Incredible book. While the story is a very personal look into a terrifying ordeal, the characters are extremely easy to relate to. The reader doesn't just act as audience to the ordeal; they are inserted into the situation, feeling the same emotions and experiencing the same turbulence caused by a 4 year old's battle with cancer through the eyes of a loving parent. Whitney Kerr is extremely adept at showing the entire scope of what he and his family faced, capturing not only their concern for Charlotte's health, but their happiness and appreciation for even the smallest glimmers of hope. While the novel is ideal for anyone who has a loved one struggling with illness, I strongly recommend it to any interested reader for its true life account of happiness, sorrow, and the precious nature of life and love.Product details

I read a draft copy of this book 6 months ago and encourage every one to get a copy for yourself and for a friend. We will all experience the effects of a friend or family member battling a disease, though I pray that you never experience the severe illness of a child. Whitney is a very funny and intelligent person who wrote this book over several years. It is a good read and I have it on the shelf next to Racing In The Rain!
I just finished my brother-in-laws Whitney Kerr's new book. While I cannot say that I am totally an unbiased reviewer I also thought I knew what they went thru...I had no idea. The story of four year Charlotte's battle for her life with an extremely rare form of cancer, Kansas City in 1993, my sister Debbie and Whitney's journey thru this process...I cried, reflected and laughed as I read this account of their struggle and it will hopefully help others should they find themselves in a similar situation.

A touching, true story written by the father of the young patient. You don't often read a story like this from the "dad's perspective" and I enjoyed that view very much.
Very good quick read of how a family can either be decimated or strengthened by a severe medical challenge. The foundation of a marriage can and will be shaken by the consuming nature of extended,debilitating diseases , let alone the medical combatant.. Deeper insights here than meet the eye..
